Gerards Cross Hockey Club

Note from Chairman

I trust that we are enjoying the second half of the season, notwithstanding the weather!  The Mens 1s have enjoyed a number of fine wins and now sit in the top half of the table, whilst the Mens 2s with a couple of strong wins are trying to pull away from the threat of relegation.

Some of the junior matches have fallen foul of the weather but the under 10s were able to enjoy a first tournament up at Leighton Buzzard.  Training is currently on hold over half term with the juniors re-starting on Friday 28th February and running until 20th March and adult training on Thursday evenings re-starting on 5th March.

Frustratingly there still remains some outstanding annual subs, which we are chasing.  The funds are vital to the club and it is unfair on those who have paid promptly.  If you are one of the non payers, please can you arrange payment as soon as possible.  Details are on the website.

I should like to take the chance to thank a number of people who have willingly given up time this season to volunteer in a number of ways, without which the Club cannot function.  Firstly John Thorne, who has been a regular umpire on most Saturdays, Natasha Ham who has done an excellent job running Friday evenings, with the support of Sue Adams, organising the bookings and pitches, as well as Tina and Charlotte.  Can I also thank the coaches for each of the junior teams, Sharon, Sean, Raj and Matt and John and Kali for the excellent training on Thursday and Friday evenings.  Last but by no means least Andy and JJ for running the adult teams, which has been particularly hard work this season and all our best wishes to JJ for his wedding in a couple of weeks.

All the best for the rest of the season.
